Ingredients and supplies

  • 1 block of tempeh (400-500 gr)
  • 3 shallots
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 large red peppers
  • 2 cm ginger
  • 3 spring onions
  • 3 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 500 ml vegetable oil
  • salt to taste
  • 5 tbsp water

Prep-work

Cut tempeh into cubes/rectangles (see photo).

Peel the shallots and garlic and cut the shallot into thin slices.

Chop the garlic into small pieces.

Remove the seeds and cores from the red peppers and cut the flesh into thin strips.

Peel the ginger root and cut it into fine julienne.

Clean the spring onions and cut into small pieces

Preparation

Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, chili powder, sugar, garlic with 5 tbsp water in a bowl.
In another bowl, mix the shallot, ginger and spring onion.

Heat a wok with some oil (enough for frying) and stir-fry the tempeh (in small portions) until nice and brown and crispy, drain on kitchen paper.

You can prepare up to this point, until you need it.

Pour the oil into the wok, heat the wok.

Add half of the shallot mixture to the wok and fry briefly.

Sprinkle with half of the soy sauce mixture, stir briefly.

Spread the fried tempeh on top, stir and fry briefly!

Spread the rest of the shallot mixture over it.

Sprinkle the rest of the soy sauce mixture over the whole thing.

Serve in a nice bowl.

Delicious with the rice table, but also delicious with a plate of rice and homemade sambal.
