Ingredients and supplies
- 100 g yellow split peas
- 100 gr black split mung bean
- 50 g orange lentils
- 2 large onions
- 1.5 tbsp ginger
- 50 g coriander (fresh)
- 2 green peppers
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- half tsp asafoetida
- 3 tsp salt (to taste)
- oil for frying
Prep-work
I used three different beans/lentils but you can also choose just 1 type.
Soak them in water for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
Preparation
- Keep some of the soaked lentils aside, we will add them later but they give the pakoras a bit more bite.
- Put the soaked beans/lentils in a blender add green chilli, ginger, cumin seeds, asafoetida and salt.
- Puree until smooth.
- Put this mass in a bowl
- add the reserved beans/lentils to the mixture
- add chopped onions and coriander
- Mix well again.
Heat a generous amount of oil in a wok/pan.
Roll the balls and fry them lightly brown in the oil.
Delicious with peanut chutney or coriander/mint chutney (Raita).
