Ingredients
450 ml milk
1 small onion
1 bay leaf
1 tsp black pepper
25 grams of butter
25 grams of flour
salt/pepper to taste
Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
Preparation
Peel the small onion and cut into quarters.
Bring the milk with onion, bay leaf and 1 tsp black pepper to the boil (when the milk rises, turn off the gas and put the lid on) and let it stand for 10 minutes. Then seven.
Melt the butter in another pan over low heat (do not let it brown).
Stir in the flour and heat, stirring, for 1 minute.
Then gradually add the milk, little by little, and keep stirring.
Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
If you add grated (old) cheese you have a cheese sauce.
